Steve was born and raised in St. Louis, he has always been involved in sports and physical activities outside of his career in IT, he had tried a few different martial arts when he was younger but felt many of the systems were not very realistic and intense as he had wanted. He has been involved with competitive weight lifting and physical training since Highschool and has trained numerous athletes. When Steve saw a segment on the local news about Krav Maga in 2004, he went in the next day to try it out, and was hooked. It was exactly what he had been looking for to compliment weight lifting and an overall great workout while also learning self defense. |

Nick started training in Krav Maga in 2005 after training in Muay Thai and MMA for 4 years. After training extensively with very talented fighters and trainers, he was very well prepared for the intensity and realism that training in Krav Maga with Sam Sade had in store for him. After training at Sam’s school for 2 months, Nick was offered the opportunity to become an instructor and 2 months later he attended Phase training. Since completing Phase A in August 2005, Nick has become known for teaching highly intense classes with the attention to technical detail that comes from training with such highly skilled instructors and trainers. Nick has trained men, women, children, police officers, and military and security personnel. All agree that Nick provides a unique training experience that is unparalleled in the St. Louis area. Nick brings extensive experience in security, personal protection and executive protection to the table along with a strong desire to constantly learn, train and gain more knowledge and experience in the world of self defense and fighting. Nick strives to pass on what he has learned to each and every one of his students in order to make them not only great Krav Maga practitioners and fighters, but also help them find the tools and skills to win any encounter in which they may find themselves. |

Brian started training in Gracie Jiujitsu in the fall of 2004. He was at the gym and a friend showed me an armbar. At the time, he was competitive in Power lifting and Strongman competitions. “I was a lot bigger and stronger than my friend, yet he beat me easily when we wrestled.” Brian was very intrigued by this and when I asked where he had learned these techniques, he told me about J.W. and his jiujitsu academy. The following Saturday I showed up to check it out and have been there ever since. What started out in the beginning as training every Saturday, quickly turned in to six to seven days a week. After a few months of training, I competed at the Arnold classic in Columbus, OH. I was fortunate enough to do very well there and come away with a Gold medal in my first competition. Needless to say, that lit a fire in me that continues to burn to this day. I spent the next few years training hard and competing every chance I got. Fortunately, I have continued to do well in competition placing in the top 3 in almost every competition that I have entered. I owe my success in large part to my instructors and training partners at Grappling Concepts. To make a complete competitor, you need a strong team. In our academy, we have a very giving mentality. We believe that if you make your partner better, you in turn become better. When everyone is constantly striving to make those around them better, the result is that everyone succeeds. In February of 2009, I had the honor of receiving the Purple belt. I feel that with this honor comes a responsibility to pass on the knowledge that continues to be passed down to me. In this effort, I continue to strive to be a better teacher and student, and to always represent this great art in the same honorable way that it has been taught to me. I would like to encourage you to take the time to experience jiujistu and what it can do for you. Whether you are an accomplished martial artist, a complete beginner, or anything in between, jiujitsu has something for you. See you on the mat! “Big” Brian Mitchell

Chris has spent his life working outdoors in the landscape industry and loving physical activity. His passions include raising his children, mountain biking, hiking, fitness, guitar and Krav Maga. Other than raising his children, Krav Maga is by far his favorite activity. He first started his training in early 08 and was addicted right away. From the start, he put in at least three to seven hours a week training. He instantly fell for the highly effective, no nonsense, train under stress approach to Self Defense. As an instructor he will consistently motivate students to excel in fitness, mental awareness, and the mastering of techniques & combatives so students will be prepared to deal with any violent physical encounter if and when one should happen.
